This is one of three horses heads Ivan has done in pastel in the past twelve months, two of which have sold at a local gallery. Having a veterinary background Ivan has a good understanding of what lies under the skin and is able to have this horse a three dimensional effect with depth and character portrayed in the details. The kind eyes and gentle nature stans out in this portrait.
«Warmblood» is completed using soft pastels and pastel pencils on pastelmat paper. The sharpened pencils create the detail and the background is blended using polystyrene sticks to give the three dimensional effect to the completed painting.
